The change is reported at approximately vehicle VIN 15000. That would have been mid May.

Hope that helps.

Not happening my friend. This car is original right down to the GM numbered wheel cylinders and spare tire tub lock. The very few things I've pulled off it are restored, bagged and tagged for posterity. Headliner, headlight motors, original carb/manifold, radio/speaker, Muncie side cover, heater box, etc..

Don't know exactly why though (same thing on my '61) -- that's just the way I roll

There is NOTHING wrong with the B/W T-10 tranny my friend. Those of us with early Muncies have some issues to deal with you do not. One example is the peened over stand off through the side cover that holds the rooster combs for the shifter lock out. When the peening wears off eventually and parts slide off you get a lot of nice big metal pieces washing around in your gears. That was later replaced with a stand off secured by a C-clip (mine has this upgrade now as shown in the pic).

Also the Muncie countershafts are notorious for leaking but that can be dealt with pretty simply but somewhat Bubba-style.
