Has anyone with power windows converted to manual? Difficult? Could you use the same regulator and add a crank?

Same basic regulator but the large regulator gear would need to be changed to a manual one. Paragon sells both power and manual gears.

What I'm really curious about is a hybrid with crank as back up when the motor fails

Never have seen anyone try that before. I have read a couple threads where someone had a motor that died on them, or so they thought, and had a tough time getting it all out of the door but most times there is a problem with PW, it's not the actual motor that's the problem. It's usually poor connections in the wiring harness or the console mounted switch. If you have PW and have checked all the major components, it should be practically faultless.

Way more trouble than it's worth to create a hybrid just to cover the odd instance when a part might fail IMO

problem 66 coupe with pass window inop. drivers window o.k. plug to switch died of old age new harness extension/ GM switch works perfectly
