Default Need Removable Transmission Crossmember Flanges installed -- Northern Virginia

All,

I have a 67 convertible and after force-feeding a Tremec TKO600 around the non-removable crossmember, I would like to modify my transmission crossmember to make it removable. I don't have a lift or welding skills.

BTW: I already talked to Tony at "Tony's Corvette" in Gaithersburg, Maryland and his shop isn't a realistic option for various reasons.

I have ordered the flanges from Ray Dowling and they are on the way, I just need to know who in the Northern Virginia area is capable of doing this kind of work? I am thinking that maybe an exhaust shop might be a good place to look?

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Frank

Contact Rob Sunde @ Contemporary Classics 301-384-4223. His shop is located in north area of Silver Spring. I have seen his work and I am planning on having him do my crossmember mod. Dennis

If the trans is already in I wouldn't worry about it until it has to come out. It will be much easier to do with the trans out.

Not really. I did mine with the trans in the car and it was a piece of cake. No issues at all.

Do you have contact info for your source of the flanges, and what was the price? Thanks!

All,

Thanks for the help. The google search options yielded mostly shops that are out of business.

I did contact Rob Sunde and he agreed to do the work. It will be a few weeks yet before Rob can get to it, but I am not in a hurry.

Ray Dowling is a really personable guy. He charged me $75 for the brackets shipped. His info is below.
