That may be the longest most documented build on this site ever! The car is awesome and hats off to you Mike.

If I were able to work "just" on this car alone, it would have been done a year ago. We really wanted it done by Labor Day but I failed at meeting that deadline, unfortunately.

I can promise you this though, it "will" be a show stopper for Mike to enjoy in his Golden Years.

Hats off to both of you: Brett for his knowledge and dedicated work and Mike for taking the risk of undertaking a commission of this magnitude. Most projects of this kind never get finished.

Just make sure you're not too "golden" when it's eventually done!

Remember we are only working on the car about 1 day a week but from here on I think things will be happening fast and furies. We have told Tyler Townsley that we would have the car at the NCRS Winter Regionals in Lakeland FL. about the 3rd week of Jan 2015. Tyler said he has a special place he is wanting to put the car for all to see. Lets just hope for good weather in Jan so we can get it down there.

This picture just cost me a lot of money... Now I need to book flights, hotels, rental car etc for the NCRS event in FL.

I'm sure there will be some older GM executives kicking themselves for not making the fastback way back when they had the chance. Mike's car will be amazing and I'm sure Brett's going to be busy making few more after people see the complete car.

Maybe I'll try to persuade Brett to build me one... Have my GS ready, this winter I'll get the 54 done and start on the SWC.

The car is going to be a 2009 or 2010 Corvette color, Crystal Red Metalic with Crystal Red Metalic and Cream interior. Pretty close to one of the original colors the car was painted back in the day. It was painted 3 or 4 different colors depending on what city it was to be displayed in. Sea Foam green was another color and s weak pee yellow and I think an off white also.
One of the hardest things was building and molding the trunk area on the body and then making the trunk lid to match it. As you can see from the pic in the post above that was a challenge but Brett did it and did a hell of a nice job I would say.

I tend to agree with your choice of color for the recreated Motorama Corvair . . . Although a part of me always thought that a recreated version of that iconic early GM photograph of the seafoam green Corvair, the metallic blue and white Waldorf Nomad done by Zane Zander, the pale yellow Motorama Hardtop Corvette (which does still exist) and a stock Polo White 1954 Corvette, parked in a semicircle as in the original photo, would be pretty damned neat.

The Motorama Car at the Waldorf was a Maroon color. You can find Nomad cars all over the place. There is a company on the West cost making them. Know one makes these. There is one made if that is what you want to call it by the same guy who said he owned the 029 1953 Corvette and he also said this year that now he owns 1953 Corvette # 009 but I found out that a guy in southern Indiana owns it and he also said that his Motorama Corvair was the original that he found in a junk yard in Detroit then said it has parts on it from the original one then said he built it to GM blue prints that he bought at an estate sale. Only thing is his top is so low you can sit on the floor and still can not see over the steering wheel. I am wondering what he is going to claim next?? I only claim that my car is a recreation of the original but with a few changes to make it more drive able and more comfortable.
But anyway keep watching the web site things will start happening fast now. Next will be to make the doors fit with the power window motors in them and get the mold for the windshield made to fit and have it made. After that it is off to paint.
