Default 1962 Body number

Is there a body number on the 1962 bodies? I have looked all over for a tag or stamping. Didn't find anything. If there is one, is there a way to cross it to a production date? Chassis # indicates a June production. THANKS

The only tag of any sort on 62 Corvettes, is the VIN tag, which was spot welded to the steering column.

, but

I think that I read in Noland's book that the early 62's had the vin tag on the door jamb, but my car made in April has the steering column vin tag .

Early in 1960, the VIN tag was moved from the driver's side door jam, to the steering column about a foot above the steering box. Most 60's, and all 61-62's, had the VIN tag spot welded to the steering column.

And if it fell off, or was lost when the steering box was rebuilt and removed, all you have is the same vin number on top of the chassis. It is stamped, driver side on top of the frame about where the door closes. If you get a rag and spray some WD-40 on it and the area, you may see it using a mirror as there is about 1/4 inch space between the top of the frame and the body. HERE ARE TWO EXAMPLES. A 61 and a 54.
