I would find that Verrrrry Suspicious especially on a high optioned big block color changed to red 67.

I know here in Indiana if I bought that car from you I would have to have the Police come and check the Vin Tag (like they know what the hell they are looking at) and they would see that they do not match and I don't know what they would do. Hell they may not know what to do. I don't think they would sign off on it so I could get an Indiana Title. Not sure what they would do. Probably would have to send the title back to you and have you get it corrected on your end in TX. Hell the Police here don't even know that the Vin Tags on the 53-55 Vettes were screwed on with a Phillips screw till I showed them that is how they did it back in the day. Good luck my friend or just never sell the car. How long have you had the car and who or where did you buy it from?

kenba, I just looked at my '67 and it has 13 characters, starting with a "1" (one). As said above, his vin tag IS wrong! Dennis

What I'm wondering about is the overall documentation and provenance of this particular car.
IF, and it's a BIG IF - if all other proof is iron clad, and you can unknot this mess, you might be okay, but it's going to take some technical and possibly legal contortions.
If the other proof is weak, I think you've got a huge problem.
Good Luck.

I'm not sure if this is of any help but my Trim tag has a typo on it, showing 984 (yellow) but should be 983 (green). I sought out Al Grenning on this, not knowing about typo issues and he confirmed that he has seen numerous typographical errors. He uses my trim tag in his seminars to show that errors were made on the production line. You could check with him about that possibility on your VIN tag.
Hope this might be of some help,
Rick

if that was the case I doubt that there would be much problem getting the title transferred. many titles have errors on them. I have never had a problem having a number or letter changed on a new title if it differed from the vin tag number.
