If you followed this thread, Mike offered his services to give a personal tour to any of us wanting to see the Reagan Presidential Library. Well, I took him up on the offer and I have to say, my wife and I had a great time and appreciate the time Mike gave us on the tour. We were visiting SoCal (we grew up there) and I contacted Mike with the date we had available, which he readily accepted. We met Mike at the library last Friday for what he said would be about a 2 hour personal tour. When all was said and done, with Mike and I trading President Reagan and White House stories, the 2 hour tour took 3.5 hours! And this was on his day off. Penny and I had a great time and I wanted to thank Mike publicly for spending so much time with us. Here is Mike, Penny and myself (left to right).

That Library for me has been a disappointment!
And these pictures are cool, what took you so long to post!

We had a classic car event at the Reagan Library this past
week, where I volunteer as a docent, giving tours to the Seniors (us),
and the school kids. They only let in about 12 classic cars, and thats
after submitting pictures of your vehicle to the event staff. Got to
park my 63 under the wings of Air Force One. What an honor ! This
plane has 1.3 million miles put on it, and was used by 7 different Presidents. I told them my car didn't leak - - - -I lied.

Been three times to see the great place and each time with different people, they have had major exhibit areas closed prior to my visits! Luckily thru my persistence, only one hall now has been unseen after three tries by me!I might take you up on that! Ps they have to remove the crypto from the plane, or close that section, because I worked on all of that in the military and it will be too tempting to get a shot secretly with my camera of some of my old equipment! If they need the KY-58 tweaked, I am your guy, I can bring my tools! Hey at least I am an honest American to say that! Also even though I am not, the former or current secret service gals fronting as gift shop staff, probably thought I was a tea Party guy, because of my being a Democrat joke I shared upon arrival. maybe that caused them to lock down the exhibits! I do like how they stuck some of the notable Democrat President flags on the drive up and in, behind trees! I could not even see Obama's flag!
And these pictures are cool, what took you so long to post!

I never heard the KY-58 called that -- but yes John Walker compromised a lot of classified gear. He lived within a mile of my two brothers in Ocean View area of Norfolk, Va.
Walker did the same thing with several spy satellites - some of which I was familiar with doing intelligence work at CINCLANTFLEET in Norfolk "back in the day".

Thanks for the kind words and great time, Mark. I enjoyed listening to your stories and experiences working with Pres Reagan. Our new "Classic Car Exhibit" from the Peterson Museum will open next week, Oct 28th. It will be at the Reagan until May 1st, 2015. The Peterson Museum in Los Angeles, is going through a major remodel, and they are lending us about 40 of their cars, for six months. As I mentioned several months ago, it's an "Open Invitation" for you guys, to visit the Ronald Reagan Presidental Library & Museum, here in Simi Valley, Ca. Its the least, I can do, in repaying you, with my stupid questions I ask you all ! ! ! ! !

Aside from my usual off beat sense of humor!
Yes for someone to take the time to take people through is awesome, but if you did it for me, the Gift shop Secret Service gals would probably have me gagged, because of all of my questions before the tour was over!
PS I would call it the Republican double header to visit the Nixon Library in the morning and the Reagan Library in the afternoon (which is do able!). You would be so inspired, you would want to fill out your early voting ballot.

Wow!
Not many people get to place their car in a Presidential Library! Congrats and it looks great there by the AFOne Boeing 707. Classic collection is the defining phrase. I would love to have that opportunity, but I will settle for strolling the halls of the Reagan Library next time we head out West to visit the family in CA. I will admit though, I have had the incredible honor of flying overseas during 2012 through 2014 with President Reagan's Marine One helicopter pilot, Marine Pilot Dan Wehrle, and I can honestly say he was the best pilot to fly with and work with in my 25 years flying career. But I still wont let Dan drive my 63 Vette convertible.

While Mike was showing my wife around the Reagan library, I told him of one of my all time favorite pictures of Pres Reagan. It is of him wearing his work clothes at the ranch, which you would probably not see anywhere else. Here it is.

Nice pair of great American vehicles in the first post!
Zora Arkus-Duntov was excited about the new C2 chassis and rear suspension, but reportedly HATED the Sting Ray coupe aerodynamics, saying "It's got just enough lift to be a bad airplane."
