Default LS3 and standard frame

Has anyone done it? I have read through a ton of restomods who have done LS engines but don't seem to find any that used the original frame. Is that because it cannot be done, or you have to hack crossmembers?
I have about 500miles on the numbers matcher, want to get another 500 and then mothball. But do not want to hack anything so would like to put a LS3 6.2L 376 C.I.D 525 HP Engine Assembly in the car hooked to a TKO 600 if it will work?

What year car? I am putting an ls motor in a 60, with a stock frame, steering and suspension. It is a little tight, but it does fit.

1964 Convertible

Not a LS3, but is a 6.0 Litre with a 4L60 in a factory frame with uncut crossmember, If Transmission needs to come out, so does the motor.

Here is a link to on of my old threads.

Did mine 2 years ago, LS2/4L60e…added posi, 17" wheels, Borgeson and Hydroboost, a/c, removable crossmember.
Cost a ton, worth every penny!

Did exactly what your thinking about 2yrs ago with my 65. LS3, TKO 600, Vintage ac, all with the stock frame. Only concession was upper tubular a-arms so I could put in DeWitts biggest radiator. Could not be happier with the results. Plenty of power and terrific mileage. Classic looks, modern drivetrain. Best of both worlds.
Go for it.

2022 C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified

I am in the process of putting LS3 in a 67 coupe with stock chassis. The engine is sitting in the frame, that is the easy part. The challenge is the LS water pump heater hose outlets hit the passenger a-arm bolts, and the front accessory drive is going to be expensive to get a good one. I am anxious to get all of those details worked out this winter when I get back on it.

Any advice on the water pump issue? I think I can modify the outlets and put 90 degree fittings on it to give me the clearance I will need.

You can drill and tap into the bosses on the bottom and put plugs in the factory location.

I only did the front one to clear the upper control arm.

Easy easy fix. Pull the orig fittings out, tap holes for right angle pipe fittings for the heater hose nipples required.
Crazy thing.... when I installed my 6.0, the engine fan fit right into the orig shroud like it was made for it! Miracle. Recently it was time for a new rad. Had a look and ordered the Dewitts rad with the built in shroud and elec fan. Beautiful. Now no more shroud. No more engine fan. Frees up a TON of space. It was ridiculously crowded up front. Try and change your lower hose - can't even see the rad side. Now its an easy repair, and I could re install my strut tower brace. Great upgrade.

Here is a fairly detailed, step by step, with photos, of an LS install into a 65 vette. From Vette mag in 2009, or so, at S&P in Arkansas.
