Default '65 Vert potential Sale

Heard a well docmented, one owner 65 vert may be coming up for sale in town soon and a family member wanted to know if I was interested. Of course I am, but how in the world do you price something like that? I've seen the car driving by a few times, I'm sure it's in great shape and well taken care of, garage kept, original to the extreme according to the family member, but haven't seen it up close. I know it's painted red, not sure about the interior. What would a car with that kind of history likely sell for these days?

And I know of one that sold for $31,000.
I also know of one that sold for $110,000.

You have to price it on facts

Body/paint condition
Engine size HP Originality/Numbers Condition

You would really have to see it first hand to evaluate and inquire here for a ballpark value. There is not enough information for those in the know to provide an approximate price. Might be original to the extreme according to the owner, but then you come to find out, oh the original engine had issues and CE block was used to replace it, but it's still original, since it came from GM OTC...nope, sorry. The frame could be rusty from front to back, but hey, it's still original, right? Yeah, but it will need to be replaced.

See the trend here?

All the bolded words above are red flage to me given that this is a 49 year old car.

Not saying it can't be true but I would approch this with eyes wide open and leave the rose colored glasses at home.

Get and inspection/inpsector to go with you to view the car. Little things can add up quickly, and big things frame/birdcage damage can be deal killers.

These "word-of-mouth" deals can be some of the best, but you got to arm yourself with knowledge... if that is not possible, take someone who knows what to look for.

A driver 65, with no frame/birdcage issues and the Original drivetrain... it would be nice to get into it under 40.

Having an expert Corvette appraiser look at it is money well spent, avoiding overpaying by a mile, or if selling, avoiding leaving money on the table.

The value in these cars is in the details and it's easy to get taken.
