What is my used 62 Fuel Injection unit worth?
Hi Guys,
I pulled a 62 FI unit off my 61 270hp garage find car. Its a PN 7017370 which I have never seen before. They used a 62 FI and Air Filter unit but a 61 FI distributor. Anyway I'm putting the car back to stock and wanted to sell these extra parts and have no idea what to ask for them. This stuff had been on the car in a garage for 20+ years until I pulled them off last year. It was supposedly running when the car was stored but who knows. I'd like an idea of what the unit is worth and if all the parts look stock to a 62 FI unit.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Chris

The dog house, fuel meter and the air cleaner appear to be from a 62 but the throttle body/choke assembly is from a 61 and older unit.
I can not find any reference to that part number.

I tend to agree with Bill. Check out the parts for sale section of the web site, www.jerrybramlett.net. I think Jerry's prices are a true reflection of the market.

So I just found this old posting, I think this explains why it looks like a mix of 61 and 62 parts.

FOR SURE, it definitely is some kind of a hybrid/built unit. Without having it on the workbench, I can't tell for sure what parts are on it.
When looking closely at the plenum tag, it is clear that the tag has been removed, or at least, messed with. I do not know of any such 7370 unit. There are multiple components/parts/features which ARE NOT consistent with a 62 unit (7355 or 7360 units).
I would suspect that the plenum tag has been made up by someone (repo plenum tags with any number desired are readily available).
Below is a perfect example. This is the plenum tag that is attached to the FI unit on my 56.

That tag looks like it has too much patina / fading to not have been factory. Must be another explanation? I saw one for sale on ebay once and posted about it:

Well if that's the case it was done 30 years ago. I took this off a car that had been sitting in a storage unit since at least 92 when the tags on its plates expired and I'm sure that injection system was added many years before that. I bet in the 80s these things where still a dime a dozen and nobody was faking tags.

See also DeGregory's post regarding this being a service replacement number:

If he is correct there were 47 of this model number run, the OPs must be the last one.

The calibration charts which used to come with Rochester FI rebuild kits list the 7370 unit as having universal applicability to '57 - '61 model years. In other words, it's NOT a '62 unit and, in all probability, it was an over-the-counter service replacement never used in production.
That said, it is a fairly rare unit. I've never seen one.
It appears to be similar to a 7320 unit but made with a starting fuel bypass circuit instead of a cranking signal valve. The calibration specs are identical to those for a 7320.
What I can't tell from the pictures is whether or not the fuel bypass solenoid on the unit was the factory installed piece. The nature of the plumbing and the apparent lack of a mounting bracket for the valve lead me to think not.

one other thing
You really shouldn't set the unit down on the nozzles. You run the risk of damaging some pretty expen$ive parts.
Buy four 3/8x3" bolts and matching nuts. Install these bolts with the threads down at each of the four corner mounting holes and secure them with the nuts. These bolts will elevate the unit, protecting the nozzles and the nozzle blocks.
