Tire check warning!
Guys, keep a check on your tires, don't let your tires get old. Six years is a safe number! I missed checking mine and it almost cost me some fiberglass work at the very least. Went to Carlisle and after riding around at low speed, (10-15mph) don't laugh, something felt different. The traffic on Thur was BAD! I noticed the rear of my car waddling and making me waddle. At regular speed, nothing out of the ordinary. Just inspected my tires and I found the left rear tread was starting to separate internally. It would be real ugly had it let go while coming home at 60-65mph. Purchased my Yokohama Avid T-4 205/70/15 July 7, '05. I got 9 yrs and 22,373 miles. Getting 4 new same and will not let this get on the radar again. Dennis

Did you happen to check the date codes on the tires, FWIW?
Unusually-sized tires, which these are today, can sit on shelves for awhile.

Glad you found out this way!
As I've told you all before, these tires will fail without warning if they are 8+ years old. And it is not a conspiracy by the tire mfg's as some on this forum profess......

Good advice. When I bought my '66, the tires looked brand new and the seller said they only had 6K miles on them since restoration. Duh, it never dawned on me that at that time it meant the tires were 13 years old. Well, sure enough one started to separate coming home one day and I could tell something was wrong. I slowed down to 10-15 mph using side streets to get home. Just plain lucky. 6-7 years no matter how many miles.

Tom, I'll get the code off the two front ones tomorrow. The rear's are gone. Dennis
