Default Straight axle width info needed on a 56 Corvette

Seeking info on what width axle to use under the 56 corvette old school gasser I am building. Speedway Motors has kits from 44-50 inch Kingpin center to Kingpin center plus custom lengths. Seeking advice on what length to order from you straight axle users. Any info is appreciated. Ordering parts at present and work begins in a few weeks Thanks

I have two different friends that have them, but I won't be able to see either one for two weeks or so.

Hopefully, you will have already obtained the necessary information by then, but if not, I can go by and obtain information plus pictures!

Any help is appreciated, not in a big hurry since the body needs some work. We plan on separating body from frame in few weeks and work on both body and chassis at the same time and mate them up later.

I put a 49 inch axle in mine. I prefer them to fill the fender and not look to narrow. PM me if you would like more info.

You may want to PM "ohiovette" (Bruce B) as he may not have seen your post yet. He's building a '57 gasser and I've seen pics. Awesome car.

Rich

oh...I had a few pics of this '54/'55? from the Daytona Turkey Run show a few years ago. I always thought the gassers were so radically cool. Driving one must be tricky.
