Default Diamondback Toyo Opinions

I spoke with Diamondback and can't get their Michelin based redlines in 205-75 anymore. They offered Toyo based instead. Anyone tried those or know of any experiences with them?
I am not going to change to 215-70 or any other size, so those suggestions are off the table as are anything other than redlines. Let me know your opinions of Toyo tires in this configuration. thanks

I can't speak to the quality of the Toyo tire but if you do go that route, I would encourage you to get the smoothy sidewall for appearance issues.

I just put the Michelins on my coupe. They are the 215/70's When I was researching the Toyo's did not get good reviews. If you do a search there should be a thread that I started about a month ago.
I have to say, the Michelins made a huge difference on my ride.

To me the only size that "looks right" are 215X75X15 and Coker doesn't make them. 205's look a little short and 70's look a little too wide.

Too big for my front. I'm asking about Toyo quality, not tire sizes.

Running Toyo/Diamondback on my 68 New Yorker, a car I use extensively on the highway at 80 MPH +/-. (it is a 440 after all).
The tires are quiet and ride nicely. Toyo has always made a good tire. I used to buy one Maxima after another, all with OEM Toyo's. Never remember being unhappy.

For what it's worth, I have Toyo based Diamondback redlines on my '67, but I have them in 225/55R17. I am very pleased with both handling, comfort and noise (if it is possible to hear any difference with sidepipes) with these tires.

Not the same size (215 70 15) but I've been running Toyo tires for about 2 years and around 10,000 miles. So far I like 'em.

I think DB will allow you to buy your own tires and ship them to DB for the stripe. I found some Firestone tires in your size with excellent reviews, Affinity Touring. Goodyear also has a tire in this size. Discount tires website is down for the weekend. If you can buy them online, just ship direct to DB.

I plan to replace my Firestone redlines next year due to age.

Bought a set of Toyo Extensa awhile back, same tire Diamondback uses I believe. Looked for the same tire size as you 205-75-15 not much choice out there. Mine are not redline, but Diamondback will make them for you. Great tire, that balances very well, had all weights placed on the backside, and it was minable amount.

Thanks for the info guys. It seems the tread width is different on the Toyos and the Michelin's in the same sizes. I'd have to change tire sizes to keep my 6" tread width on the Toyo tire. I'm going to have to think about it for a while. My current red lines are only 11 years old, so I have plenty of time. (that was a joke)

65G you are finally scraping those "free" Coker's you took off my hands? Any problems other then age? How many miles did you get out of them? I have used Toyo on another performance car and they have been great.
Since they are only 11 years old you got a couple years to find a replacement.

Yeah that junk you included with the wheels. I have had no trouble, they ride great, balanced well, look great. I don't have many miles on them, but the date codes say 2003. I really hate to scrap them, but I read about old tires coming apart and damaging the fiberglass, so I'm giving in. I've run old tires on my cars for years with no problem. I even bought used tires in the 70's for my 65 with no problems. I just don't want to hear "I told you so" if it happens.
Thanks again for the great deal on the wheels and tires, it's been about three years trouble free since I got them. They really changed the look of my car.

Thanks, but not in a red line. I'm going to try the Toyo's I believe.

Jack, did you get new tires? I ordered new Michelins in 215 70 15's this week from DB. It takes two weeks for delivery.

Jack I have Diamondback Toyos on my 66 for 2 years now. You have seen them. I have had no problems what so ever.
