Default Can't Get '65 Out of Garage

. . . On a three-day weekend!

My garage double door torsion spring broke, dammit.

What timing.

And that is the heaviest garage door I have ever tried to open without a spring.

Ha. I had a spring break on the door at my old business once. I finally got it raised by prying it up enough to get a floor jack under it, then an old bumper jack, then back to the floor jack with increasingly longer 4x4s.
I would never stand in the doorway after that spring was replaced, for fear it would break again and cut me in half.

Hop in a plane, Easy Rhino, and I'll let you take out mine. Just be careful if you start yanking on that door. Lift with your legs!

First thing tomorrow, call a garage door repair company, they will change your spring in no time. Torsion springs are under extreme tension, they will eventually break due to metal fatigue. I would get a new spring installed.
I like to grease the torsion springs.

You did disconnect the door from the opener first before you tried to lift it, right?

Not until that tranny gets checked out, man. I don't want to be the reason you toasted your drive shaft.

Too late, already ordered new springs (always replace in pairs). I'm a hard core do-it-yourselfer. I've done 'em before.
