Upcoming C2 values
I am happy to see the 63 SWC's take the money and run when it comes to resale prices since the 50th anniversary. So do you guys think that the other C2's (particularly the upcoming 50th of the 67) will result in a huge jump in prices as well? Just curious.

The 50th anniversary didn't seem to help the prices of 63 convertibles. I think it was more a mater of the hype around the split window, and some people bidding stupid money for them early in the year at Mecum. That sort of set the tone for them, for the rest of the year.
67 big blocks could get a bump. Still if I had one I wanted to sell, I don't think I would be sitting on it for 3 more years, just because it might get a big bump, on it's 50th anniversary.
I haven't seen anyone running out, and throwing a lot of money at 64's, just because they turned 50.

Prices went nuts way before the anniversary, and continue today. It was something else.
Im not seeing the "anniversary effect" on other cars just yet. They may jump anyway though.

The best market value charts are at Hagerty. The C2 cars took a huge hit between 2007 and 2012. They went back up but are now in a slight downturn.
The Hagerty charts aren't perfect but they're the best we have.

The 63 split window prices where always to low for how important of a car that it is, I think that people are now finally seeing the true value in them. You can not have a good corvette collection without one. So the prices reflect there importance.

MEcum results
This 63 was an outstanding car at $127,500. I thought that compared to 63's that sold in Dallas last year this was priced under the others, as the paint was flawless and the restoration was excellent. The ones I saw going for 125K last year had some noticeable defects.
I'd like to know who did this resto. Pictures on this listing do not do this car justice.

Of course, I am a little partial on this year and color as I am restoring a 340HP saddle / saddle SWC.

Its still everyone's personal opinions, but I still think the kicker on the SWC values is the fact its "fake engine proof." (and as 65 PV said, they were clearly undervalued before their jump) The '67s have been the king of the hill for so long, but so many of these BBs are showing up as restamps now, not to mention judging bodies like Bloomington basically throwing their arms in the air about trying to detect restamps... but the lure of the SWC has nothing to do with the motor. And its pretty tough to fake a split window.
Who knows?

I'm glad I bought my C2 so cheap (by today's standards that I don't care how much or little they are valued to others. The value to me is in the memories created in the 51 years of ownership.

The problem with auctions is the regular guy that saves for a special car gets beat out by money bags who seems either to flip the car or put in a collection. The price will always go up depending how much money the rich can throw around. I feel fortunate to have bought a driver and enjoy the process of working on her.
