C2 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified 2020

Default Griffin vs. Dewitt

My mechanic is recommending a Griffin radiator over DeWitt for the rebuild on my 1964 Corvette...327/365 HP.
Any members have experience with Griffin

My one and only experience with a Griffin radiator was not good. The one I purchased lasted about 12 months before it started leaking. I took it to a shop that builds custom radiators to have it replicated and they told me that the tubes were held in place with epoxy and that is what failed. This was about 12 years ago and perhaps they are better now?

I bought my Dewitts about seven years ago, and it solved my cooling problems. It is by far the best reproduction part I have purchased for my 65.

Did you ask why? I'd want to know what he used to form his opinion. Then I'd want to go to the DeWitt website and read how they are made.

From the archives: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-be-cool.html

Some folks have been asking the same questions for over 10 years. I think the right answer has always been Dewitts.

Griffin radiators were, and still are, assembled with epoxy; DeWitt's radiators are controlled-atmosphere brazed, in a furnace that's free of oxygen, so the braze joints aren't contaminated. I've used DeWitt's radiators for years - top-notch product quality and customer service.

I have bought 3 DeWitts radiators and the 4th is now on order.
They are absolutely fantastic in Corvettes and I'm sure in other applications.
I think DeWitts actually manufactures radiators for other companies also.

DeWitts by far. Not only do they produce a great radiator, but their customer service is bar none!

Tom Dewitt is an active participant on this forum and strives for customer satisfaction. I have bought two of them and would buy in the future. Do a search on here for Dewitt, there are loads of praise to be found.
