Default 427 Casting #

The casting number is 3904351, and it is located on the driver's side rear engine flange just above and forward of the bell housing.

351 is the same for 390, 400 and 435 cars. Careful, seeing you are a new member be warned the 435 is the most faked/restamped/mocked up motor out there.

Amen I agree, the reason I ask is I have a 67 conv, I've owned since 1970, ran the car in A stock back in the day, blew the motor which is an original 400 horse car, I have gas tank sticker etc. sold original engine years ago, dumb I know, well anyway in 69 I special ordered a 69 Camaro L78/396/375 horse car, sold the Camaro 4 yrs later but before I did I kept the engine, trans etc. should be shot I know, I am a retired auto shop owner, we bored the 396 a 125 thousands cause it is a Hipo block you can do that, made a 427 using all GM parts, the original 840 heads etc. 11 to 1 motor with the original 3 twos, which is now in my 67, but the block casting is different and I was just curious since it is a 69 engine I guess the reason for a different casting #, appreciate your help.

well, you should be shot for selling the original motor out of the 67, and you should shot for keeping the 375 motor out of the Camaro. LOL....bang, you're dead.... All joking aside, that 375 motor is worth a LOT of money to the guy who owns the 69 Camaro (if its still alive). I have a 69 Camaro too, and if it was 375 car and found the original motor, I would pay stupid money for it. You could try to reunite the motor with the car, sell it to him, then go buy a 351 block and have it built up nicely with your intake, etc on it and pocket the remaining
15K and use it to buy ALL CF members beer for the next 2 years.

Sounds like a plan, I have nightmares about how I ruined that Camaro, I really loved it, what makes it worse I sold it with a 327 3 speed, robbed the 373 12posi and put in a 308 open rear end. Yow beer 4 all, the Camaro rear end and trans are now in my 57 Bel-air. Slap me again. HUH!
