Radio Rebuilds
Does anyone have a reputable person who goes through corvette 66 AM/FM original radio? My radio has a "static" noise when you adjust the volume. It is the original that cam with the car and I'm sure it has never been gone through and cleaned. Thanks, Jim

Jim, there is a company advertising on ebay that will rebuild your radio & make it stereo & bluetooth capable among other things, they're a bit pricey but if you want a modern radio with the original appearance, this is the only way to go! here is the link:

Jim,
There was a post a while back in the General Section on this problem. You can do a search and probably find it. I can remember that the recommended trick was to turn volume **** from off to full volume a few times with a quick firm motion ( with ignition off ). Another member posted that the switch gets dirty and can be shot from the front thru the stem to the controls with a Radio Shack type of electronic cleaner but I can't remember the name of the stuff. Bottom line is several members reported back that they tried this and it worked. Worth a try before you spend some big bucks..good luck.
By the way I sent my am/fm to South Texas Antique Electronics for restoration last week. Estimate was $130 for electronics restoration barring a major board failure. He does all the other stuff too ie: bluetooth, ipod connections, etc. Will let you know how it works out. Promises 2 weeks or less turn around

You will receive a detailed report of the problems and the solutions. Itemized billing of parts and labor. And, information on how to tune the antenna to the radio and preventive actions to keep problems from reoccurring. I'm looking at my bill which contains all of this.
I highly recommend this service.

I've used Robert Pacini for four or five radios now and he's a member of NCRS as well. Very, very reasonable, personable and fast turnover.

I had my 67 radio gone through almost 5 years ago by Jerry and I was one of many singing the praises of his work. I will continue to recommend him for a C2 Delco radio repair but I also understand that because of all the accolades he has received, he has become overwhelmed. Hopefully, things work out for him so he can enjoy life and not be overwhelmed in work because his work on a radio is the best in the industry.
Jerry, if you happen to read this, you are the best!

Sounds like you just have a little bit of crud buildup there.
