Default Hankooks?

Anyone running the Hankook P205/75/15R on their C2? If so, how do you like them?
Saw favorable comments for the Vetrus on the C5/C6 forums, but wanted to find out about the C2 size. Price is $79 each for the white walls.

Default Got 'em!

I just put a set on my '63 coupe in the middle of August. Mounted them on 6" rally wheels so they fit just like the knock offs and blackwalls (no name) tires I took off. I drove the car to Carlisle, which was a 650 mile trip, and they behaved beautifully. I've also driven the car around locally, played around on a couple of twisties and over all think the tires are a very good deal. Got mine from Walmart.com so I could just load up the wheels, drop them off and pick them up mounted and balanced at a fair price.

That's a strong vote of confidence (that you have them on two)!

Default Have Whitewall Version Mounted on my 1966 Convertible

They are on a set of chrome plated bolt on knock offs. They look spectacular and helped me win Best of Show at an all Corvette Car Show back in August.
I've had them on my 1966 since August 2012 with no issues.

Hankooks are horrible. I would not recommend them.

Oddly varying reports........

I put a set on my '61 2 years and 1000 miles ago.. No problems whatsoever.
They still look new.

My tire dimensions are much different than yours. I put 295/50/15's on back. 255/50/15's up front. Shopped for several weeks at all of the major, nationally known tire outlets and was repeatedly told that under no circumstances should I put a set of Hankooks on the car. Nearly all of the stores thought while it was an O.K. tire... it was definitely a budget, bottom end product.
Most suggested Cooper Cobras or... if I could find em... BFG Radial T/A. Spent a bit more money and went with the Cooper's. Awesome grip and performance.

I leased a new VW Passat for my son to use for 2 years in high school before going to college. Because his school was so close to home, we used the car for a couple in-state vacations just to put some miles on it. The OEM tires are Hankook... with only 12,000 miles, the front tires were finished down to the wear bars! They drove fine and their customer service was decent, but the tire wear was horrible. They gave me a 50% refund under warranty for the premature tire wear. Due to my experience, I would never buy Hankook tires for my cars.

Good luck, Roger

I have a set on my '64 - 205/70-R15 that have been balanced 5 times. Last time with a Road Force Balancer. Two are close and I have two outliers but when that last balance job was done we found a control arm bushing with some wear and a little play in a u-joint. Changed the u-joints on the drive shaft, new control arm assemblies, new idler arm and steering stabilizer and at 50mph I still get the shakes but not as bad. The tire shop that I bought them from has ordered me a new set in 205/75-R15 that we will mount Saturday morning. If they still shake then the only thing in question will be the steel wheels that I bought for the car.

Overall I like the tires. At any speed other than 50-54ish they are fine. I'll report back after Saturday morning but it may be late in the day because the turbo cars are at SGMP in Cecil and with the cool weather we're having down here I expect to see some ridiculous speed!

Yes I got the WWs, they look great. Regarding all the negative comments all I can say is I searched the forum and found several guys that had good luck with this size and model tire. Mine balance VERY good, they ride great and handle pretty good. Yes time will tell.

I run them on my 396 with the tourk thrust. For the amount of time I use them, I like them, A little aggressive outer but

Woops - I apologize for my brain fade. The Hankooks REPLACED PIRELLIS THAT HAD THE DRY ROT. The HK's were OK but rode rough but then again they were 6 ply's.

I had them put on yesterday and they rode and handled great. Shop manager said they road forced great. The car had a bad shimmy at 45-60mph beforehand, but that totally disappeared with the new tires. The whitewalls look great too, they look to be 3/4", which fits the look of the car perfectly.
Guess we'll see how long they hold up, I'll make sure to keep my warranty papers handy!!

Saturday we installed Hankook 205/75R15 on mine. I had Hankook 205/70R15 and had the shakes at about 50-55mph. I installed upper and lower control arm assemblies, tie rod ends, idler arm, steering stabilizer and drive shaft u-joints. I had some play in the u-joints and the upper right-forward control arm bushing so while I was at it I replaced the other items. Still had the shakes. After installing the new tires all seems to be fine. Ran it up to about 85mph and let it come back down on it's own in gear, then again with braking then one more time letting it coast in neutral from about 85mph. Each time was fine. The only thing I don't like is that they look a little more narrow than the 205/75R15 but since I have steel wheels and hubcaps it's ok.
