I was expecting it to be made of wood and have sails.

Rick, you might even get get MORE looks with your "1853" title.

I'm thinking that is a quite possibly a high value item new in the box like that is.

You might even try one of the big auction houses.

I doubt very many have come up for sale. Heck, I doubt many survive.

I looked at that VIN tag; clearly a restamp and should have rosette rivets....not Philip's head screws.

JUST kidding, a rare item and museum quality...I couldn't even hazard a guess.

That would be less than they were new. Originally they sold for $1500 from what I have found.

Local guy owned a bowling alley and was forced to close due to lost revenue. So they had an auction. This vette had been packed away down in the basement never even opened. He was a car buff years ago an a local dealership had given it to him.

They have only been around for about 5 years. The last one I saw sold was on Ebay for around $1100. Maybe they are gaining in collectibility.

As you know, It only takes that one person that really wants it.

My suggestion is to call the Corvette Museum and put in on loan for a year. also include a contact. I assume you will get a call or email. Then agree on a price. I am sure a corvette owner would like to have. Price ? $2500 my guess. I have restore a peddle car and the buyers are their.

Default 1853

Didn't George Washington cross the Delaware river in one of those?

I think I saw someone fairly recently reproducing a Go Kart 53/54 body somewhere. Their were Vintage ones given away at Dealerships back in the day and within the last year I have posted up a dealership picture advertising those in their showrooms on a thread or two recently.

I'm sure you fellas will find the following quote interesting, may answer a few questions and bring up others. It is from an article in the Omaha World Herald about a fellas restored 1953 Corvette, it is dated Saturday January 31, 2009.

"........ 1953 Corvette also had an expanded life. It was selected as the model for a limited-edition pedal car turned out in 2001. "The company contacted me for measurements since their engineer lived in Omaha,"he said. "Their intent was to sell them for the 50th anniversary in 2003, priced at $1,500 each. They made a thousand of them and didn't sell more than 150."

With the company outof business and the balance of the pedal cars unaccounted for, that kind of makes them rarer than the original '53s. Do the grandchildren get to drive the two that he bought?"
