New 1961 Gas Tank
Just unpacked my new gas tank for the 1961. The ill-fitting tank in the car is labelled "GM45C" and doesn't have a logo. The new one is labelled "TGM45C" and has the OLA stamp. Similarly the old sending unit is labelled "F-0001" and the new unit is "F-0002". It has a resistance of 0-30 ohms and looks reasonable linear across the range, and it also doesn't have a flare fitting as the F-0001 has. Since the old tank is completely incorrect I been told I need new clamps and a hose. I've also been told I also need a GM 3796038 fuel pipe but they aren't available.
Thoughts on what I really need?

Who did you buy it from?
More importantly did it actually fit?
Here's the issue - in great detail.

I've just received the other parts for the gas tank. Starting on it after I get the seat rails ready since stuff is going to plating in the next couple of days.

Think I have kept up with the thread, but wanted to make sure. This tank is the new Quanta brand that should have the re-design to fit with beating the snot out of it AND allow the tank cover to sit flush?

First pass was a no go - will not fit into the "well". But we were tired from putting heater and hoses into another '61 so might be missing something. Will do some measurements tomorrow and see if there's an obvious problem.

More Pics
These are two pics from with the tanks side-by-side. Most obvious difference is that the new tank has much bigger "ears" than the old (about 2 years) tank. Looks like it's going back for exchange.

Redo Time
After vendor discussion decided to do what I didn't really want to do. Took the old tank, drained all the gas, used my electric leaf blower to completely dry out the tank so there weren't any noticeable fumes, used a plastic deadblow hammer to bend the entire front of the tank up, and used an air grinder to cut the front corners back to where the weld seam was at (the corners were an obvious problem since they hit the fiberglass).
Used a new gas sender, cut the fuel line down by the well lip and hooked everything up. After some fiddling with the sideways orientation of the tank the cover now can be completely screwed down. I didn't end up with an OLA logo tank but I'll have to settle for what I can do.
This is a picture of my "beautiful" work. Thanks to everyone for all their help.

'61 Gas Tank
When reviewing what went wrong with this before sending it back I relooked at the label. I'm lead to the conclusion that this is actually a Spectra gas tank based on the full size label picture that I took. Of course I had this before but didn't carefully look at the "fine" print. So I'm lead to believe that gastanks.com is Quanta per their website, and they in turn are reselling Spectra tanks rather than something they manufacture themselves. OH WELL... Onto the radiator.

Thanks for letting us know about this. Why can't anyone get this right? Oh well.
