Default 56 retro drag build

I am building a retro 56 drag car, not for racing just something a little different. Considering using a big block. Any opinions pro or con if if I decide to go 427 or 454?

You can do a fairly easy build of a SB427 (or even a 434) with a GM block, OR, you can build as big as a 454 with an aftermarket tall deck block such as a World block. Then use alum parts for everything else, such as heads, water pump, intake, etc. This would keep the frontend weight down and provide better weight transfer to the rear. The only thing about the aftermarket tall deck small blocks is that all the internals are unique, the cam bore is raised, thus, more money. Personally, my choice would be to go with a stock deck height SB400 core and go from there. I would also keep the displacement between 420 and 427.
