Default '61 Seat Track Disassembly for Plating

One of the other local guys is sending in many parts from his disassembled '54 for zinc chromate plating and I can add in parts from my '61. I have my seat tracks out and need to disassemble them. It looks like bending the 1" long "retainer" in is the best way to go. See pic.

Thoughts?

EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you ever wanted to know about later C1 seat tracks by forum member rich5962: http://home.comcast.net/~richmz/site...7233fa7380859b

A top restorer of C1/C2s -- he has my split window coupe right now for some minor work...

Yep bend the tab to disassemble. The bearing can fall out. I do have some extra seat track rollers if you need them let me know. I bought them for my car and decided mine were good enough to keep using. I think it is almost a complete set for 3 of the 4 seat tracks.

I restored my '61 seat tracks and decided the same as Jim - the rollers were fine. Its usually the case that they are just gummed up with 50+ years of crud

Fab - looks like a 3 hour or so project.

Thanks for the guidance.

OK - just like a home plumbing project - double the anticipated time and add 2 more hours.

You almost have it correct.

Double the anticipated time and add 2 more hours AND TRIPLE THE ESTIMATED COST!
