Default Carb Bowel Internal leak?

Have a friend who has a 66 BB with a list 3247 4150 780 CFM carburetor who is having trouble starting his car in the morning due to little or no fuel in the primary bowl. Once it starts the fuel level is fine as viewed the sight screws removed; however when it sits overnight he sees no fuel at all in the bowl apparently draining out somewhere internally whereas there is no fuel evident on the outside.

The only thing I can think of is it may be leaking through the power valve or the power valve gasket is either torn or not centered??

Are there any other possible causes?

Thank you,
Ralph

Yup - percolation. The fuel in the bowls is boiling off during heat-soak after shutdown. Common issue with E10 fuels.

John I just sent him a e-mail to ask him if he has ever checked the secondary fuel level in the morning as well.

I would assume if it is percolation then the secondary side would be low as well?

This VERY WELL could be his problem because he has always complained that his engine runs too hot @ 210 degrees !

Thank you,
Ralph

Over 1/2 hour for the first response - people must be busy with other things this afternoon.

See a doctor first thing because it could lead to a serious medical condition. Next, go to the store and buy some Depends.

Just went through this with my Mopar 440+6. My primary carbs' metering block had a .012 warp to it allowing fuel to pass thru the PV area. I installed a PV plug to eliminate the valve opening and fuel was still passing into the manifold and oil pan. Had the metering block measured out in our calibration lab at work. Bought a new block and all is well now.

Thank you ------------ since he just reported that his secondary fuel bowl level does NOT drain down like the primary side, then I would assume that this is not a peculation problem?

I will forward the possibility of a warped metering block to him accordingly.
