Default Serpentine System - too good to be true?

March Performance has a serpentine system that is fairly reasonably priced:
http://www.marchperformance.com/ultra-bb-standard.html
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mc...ions/year/1966 $750
It moves the alternator to the PS but that just means a wiring harness extension - less trouble than some of the other systems I've seen. It looks to me like it'll fit otherwise.

Anybody tried this setup?

That's for a passenger car LONG water pump setup (not used on Corvettes), and the A/C compressor mounting won't work; why would you want the alternator on the passenger side?

Default Kwik Perf Serpentine System adapting GM parts ?

This setup:
http://www.kwikperf.com/bbc_m4.html
is mostly complete; has all the brackets and pulleys; plus a p/s pump.
They only want $700.
All the other complete serpentine systems (that fit) are between $2000 and $2500.

Eyeballing it; it looks like the second kit down on the page; K10255; puts the a/c in a better place. Using that kit, I'd guess the alternator sits too high and that bracket might need some modification. But, based on the way it's built, I'd say that's doable. Whether the crank pulley will clear the frame would be the next big question.

I've reviewed all the past posts I could find and haven't seen where anybody has actually used this Kwik Perf serpentine system in a big-block Corvette. Has anybody? Has anybody heard of anybody using it?
I just hate guessing.

If it were me I would contact the manufacturer and get the questions answered. Takes the guesswork out of it.

What prevents you from using the stock accessory drive system?

Yes, I'm trying that. I get a lot of "it should fit" answers from most of them. I am playing phone tag with Wayne from Kwik Perf right now.
I'd like to know from a CF member that they've actually installed the system and it fit - or exactly what had to be modified.

Right. That is basically the default plan. I'd prefer serpentine. But, it's not worth the premium cost I've identified so far.
Looks like I can buy the factory brackets & pulleys for roughly $600 or less. The lowest cost serpentine system I've found that even says "probably" fits is $2000...
