My "New" 1962 Barn find
After about 15 C3s I finally got a C1 It was stored in a trailer for over 15 years... Will need lots of work. No keys, hood won't open, a bit moldy, but a C1. I need ideas on how to get the hood open. The release cable is frozen. Can I get to something from under the car to release it? Any tricks? I don't want to break anything.
Thanks

A trick I learned on my 58 was to reach under the dash and behind the pull handle and grab each of the hood cables seperately and pull down. this should open each of the two hood latches. You might want someone to help keep the hood open from the outside of the car when you do this.

Thanks for the tip. I'm trailering it home today... I can't wait to see the engine... I am assuming there is an engine.
I saw a broomstick with a wire hook video work on a 65. Does anyone know if the 62 has the same latch set up?

62 latches are different. If worse comes to worse, you can take off the metal splash pans and get access to each side through those cavities. Keep us posted! Any idea why the seat vinyl is 61 pattern?

Thanks for the tip... and I have no clue why I have 61 pattern seats. I'm learning every step of the way. This is going to be fun!

Taking off the splash pans is easier said than done if you can't open the hood to access the nuts inside the engine compartment.
If the car doesn't have headers, you can reach up beside the exhaust to manually work the latches. This is easier on a lift.
If it doesn't have a motor, reaching up from underneath is a piece of cake.

Update. The brakes were a little stiff so it took a few guys to roll it out of the trailer. The come-a-long did the rest to get it on mine. I got it home and gave her a much needed bath. The top still had the paper tag on it from new! I didn't get to the interior yet but it looks complete and in very good shape. You'll notice the clock and wonderbar are missing. They are wrapped and in a box, freshly refurbished but never installed.
It looks like I'll have to wait until Saturday to get it on a lift. I'm still wondering what awaits me under the hood. I think I'll video the opening. I'm not expecting much. The PO said he doesn't think it is matching numbers. Check out the last pic. Last plated 1993! I hope the engine isn't stuck. I think I'll have to wake her motor gently with a little marvel oil in her plug openings and gently nudge her crankshaft. More to come!

1cool60 how can you tell the difference on the headlight rings? I'm going to take off the front plate bracket. I think it really detracts from the look up front.
