1958 corvette - how many were black 290hp?
Black 290hp stats. Does anyone have actual documentation supporting these production numbers? Thank you...

Like others have said, there is no way to know beyond a shadow of a doubt, given the absence of documentation.
However, statistically, you can infer general numbers based on the percent that were black and the percent that were 290hp, since there is no reason to assume that some colors were more prevalent with some engine options.

Guessing won't make it any better.
Also, remember that rare and valuable are two totally different things. Very few '58s were sold with the base 3-speed transmission. When was the last time you saw one of those bring big money?

A fraternity brother at U of Miami had a solid Charcoal color 290 hp car which I understand was superseded by the color Black sometime near the end of the 1958`s production run....How many were Black FI Vettes I don't know....Probably a real low combination as Blacks of any engine combination was only around 500.......My unqualified guess is about 50 black 290`s .........
