Can anyone suggest a shop in the Tampa, FL area that would be familiar with swapping out transmissions in a midyear Corvette?

If no one knows, Gene Showers @ The Chevy Shop in Apopka might have a recco for you.

If you consider coming all the way over here then Dewey Hendricks is a first-rate midyear guy but stays pretty busy.

Do not use AntiVenom in Seffner, FL over your way

Nice list. Thanks John Z and Outlaw67. It is a little scary though. I was hoping by using a rebuilt trans and used shifter and maybe some other used parts that I could get the swap done for $2,500 or so. With someone who knows what they are doing making it happen. I don't know?

Whoever did the swap 31+ years ago just cut the clutch pedal off with a torch. So everything is there except the part of the pedal they cut off.

It should be a relatively easy job , give Willcox or similar a call if you cant find a good used one local .

and buy a workshop manual if you don't already have one

Yes. You'll need to remove the steering column and loosen the master cylinder and remove the pedal support in order to change the clutch pedal (change the four plastic bushings while you're in there).

This is good news. Now all I need to do is find a good M20 Trans, buy a clutch, bell housing, shifter, a bunch of other parts and find some one to do the work. What about the carburetor. The AFB I have is for an automatic and has the lever for the kick down. Can I use this carb or put on a different lever or what?
