Default 1967 Fan Shroud Square Hole?

What is the square hole on the upper left for?

On a 1967 327/300 car without air conditioning, doesn't the fan pull air through this hole rather than the radiator? Should this hole be sealed?

That's for cooling air to the alternator.

Interesting. I don't think the shroud on my '64 has a hole there.

And the alternator has its own cooling fan built in, besides, the air still gets heated by the radiator...

Anyone else?

No offense, but looks like you are fairly new here. Probably don't know who John Z. is.

But, take his word for it.

My one owner '66 big block has the same hole, directly in front of the alternator.

'63-'65 small-blocks have the alternator on the passenger side (except with A/C), and have welded steel fan shrouds.
