Street Tires? I had BFG R1 in a 245/45-16 (spec'ed at 9.3" tread width) on my 1966.

I have stock trailing arms, but the emergency brake has been re-routed so the arm is smooth. These were on 16x8 wheels with zero offset.

Before that I had 235/60-15 tires (estimated 8.1" tread based on currently available tires) on repro knock off wheels. 235 was pretty wide for these wheels and didn't really look great to me.

I currently have 245/50-16 (spec'ed at 9.7" tread width) BFG g-Force Sport COMP-2 on the same 16x8 wheels as the R1s. The R1s by the charts have a smaller tread, but I'm sure they left a fatter stripe on the ground than the new tires.

I believe I had 255 - 60/15 on 7 inch wheels under mine when I bought it back in the 80s - but it sat up high enough that the tires pretty much missed the fender lips.

Not sure it's a look I would recommend.
