Anyway, your post made me curious for future reference in case I ever want to get mine re-painted. Exactly what was the difference between your NB & the yr 2000 version of NB? My color seems kind of deep (see avatar if you can tell), but what the hell do I know anyway about any of this stuff, that's what you guys are here for.

Randy- I get all these paint threads mixed up it seems!
My car also needs paint, it takes good photos but that's about the extent of it. I've probably said it before but I bought mine with a "Correct" color that's my favorite, but I'd have bought any other color and changed it in a minute, since I don't own a Fuellie or some such thing...

Have you considered wrapping it in a vinyl color of your choice instead of painting it?
Not sure if you can actually do that with a fiberglass car, but it is a paint option for other cars.

Not to go off topic but someone did this on the forum and posted photos, it was a C2 with a "vintage racing" (for lack of a better word) type wrap and at least in the photos it looked good I must say! Not a replacement for paint in my mind, but definitely something you can "try on" and completely remove! I'll see if I can find the link and edit...

Do what you want! It is your car. I could care less about the value of my cars when I am gone! They will still bring good coin original color or not!

Donny, that comment has to be the funniest thing I read in a while, thanks for that!!!!
I was under this same dilema on my 64. It needs paint, and I have a gallon of Kona Blue (A Mustang Color, and gorgeous!!!!) on the shelf that resembles Daytona Blue, but with a bit of pearl and royal. I painted my 56 Nomad that color and loved it so I thought I'd maybe spray the Vette in that color. But after I buffed out the faded Silver Blue, I think I'm sticking with the original color since I like it equally as much. My car is all numbers matching, 300HP, manual everything, Silver Blue and Dark Blue combo. It's not a fuelie, not a prototype, and has no rare options, and the factory color does it for me. If it didn't, it'd be changed.
I do all the work myself and have painted other cars for people, factory restorations, custom colors, and here's my thoughts on painting a car a different color. Unless your car is a one of a few, rare, etc., just paint it the color you want. What is the one thing that people see on a car? Paint! Most add PS or PB to their car for better driveability, so why would paint be any different? Add what you like. Who cares if it's not the original color? Maybe an NCRS judge, but you're not planning on going that route. You be the judge.
Cheers

Deep Molten Red with Black Diamond fenders on the 51' Truck, and Aqua Blue Metallic on the 57. All factory Chrysler and GM colors, and I have YET to have anyone come up to me and complain that any of these cars aren't the original colors....I'm just sayin'

V1- good posts, all. That Kona Blue is a nice replacement for Daytona Blue. I've always said Daytona Blue is my favorite, but the truth is mine has quite a bit of original lacquer on it (checking everywhere) and when I look at the metallic, I'm likewise tempted to paint it a similar late model shade in a solid color. I keep my eye on a new mopar solid deep blue and VW makes a great shade as well!

Do you like morron? Moron with big flakes pops, but will devalue your car by at least $40,000.00. What color would you like best? Would you like to paint it 5 stage paint rather than 3 stage paint?
Can you change the trim tag and put in a white interior, with the moron with big flakes in 8 stage? That would really pop, but would make the car worthless.
I would change the trim tag and paint it saddle tan, because that is a rare color even though it looks like shlt. Woops....no shlt tan for 1965......my bad. Better still, paint it green, and change the trim tag.
I would look up the rarest color combination that you can find, no matter how ugly and repulsive it is for you. Paint it THAT color and change the trim tag. Every time you drive your nice, ugly car, bring along some Alka Seltzer to calm down your nausea and also bring along a barf bag just in case.
After all....it's all about $$$$$$$$, not pleasure, isn't it?
Don't you realize that anybody who gives a crap about such foolishness will be dead within the next 10 years?
These kind of threads make me want to barf!

You should also consider your budget.
It is typically cheaper to have a car re-sprayed the existing color than to deal with color change in the jambs and areas not typically addressed.
What did I do? This was a saddle car with saddle interior. Now titanio grigio metallic with a canna di fucile metallic stripe (PPG Ferarri catalog). Do I regret it??? Look at the results. Would you???
