61 side trim on a 62?
Will the stainless side molding on the 58-61 corvette work on a 62?
I have more of a resto-mod. So it is way past keeping original. I have the spears in front of the doors instead of the 62 aluminum blocks.
I was interested in the:

I know I need to drill holes, but wanted to know before I buy...
Thanks for any insight.

I saw a '62 at the Emerald Coast Cruizin' in Panama City Beach, Florida this year. The owner drilled the mounting holes and added the trim on top of the ridge around the coves.

Oh, it didn't fit perfectly but it's there. He may have shaved the ridge a bit. After talking with the owner I learned that he is friends with someone who works with the same company that my wife works for so if needed I can contact him for more details.

IF your goal is to paint the coves a different color than the body you can do that on a '62 without the molding. I've seen it tastefully done on several '62s and it looked quite natural. It doesn't require demarcation with metal trim - that ridge is a nice breakpoint that can be used.
If you're hell-bent on making it look like a '61 then its bodywork and a few hundred in parts to get the stainless steel on.

I have a '62 with the '61 components on it. We could swap doors and you can get the trim from me. All that would be left is a little body work to replace the fender panels and paint. Then I would have a proper '62 and you would have your trim.

You don't have to replace the fender panels.
My '61 car, which had a mashed left front fender when i bought it, came with a new '62 OEM front fender as a separate part.
I built up the area under the ridge with fiberglass, and then ground the lip down smooth.
If you want to use the side spears, the spears must be thinned a little bit where it tucks behind the front cove piece,a s the '62 cove is slightly shallower than the earlier cove. not much, less than 1/8".

Many years ago I dated a girl who had gone the other way, had a '61 fawn beige made to look like a '62. I don't remember what was done re the trim and ridges, and I don't have any pics of the car. (or her, before anyone asks )
