Default 1957 283 motor decode

I have a complete 1957 283 motor I am trying to decode,

Block 3731548 / stamped F123FC / 8GM ? / A237=Jan. 23, 1957 , I am 99% sure the suffix is a C not a G

heads 3731539/ GM 6 /A227 = Jan. 22, 1957
intake 3731898 / GM NO1/ A217 = Jan.21, 1957
L exhaust 3733975 / H1 , R exhaust 3733978 /RH1

no side motor mount holes

Thanks for your help -

Your '1548' block is correct for '57. There is no "FC" engine stamp pad suffix for '57. If you misread it and its really an "FG" then its a 245hp dual quad powerglide motor.
You can look up all this stuff for yourself at: http://corvette-world.com/page-2-Cor...fications.html

"FC" should be a single 4bbl engine mated to a Powerglide transmission and originally installed in a passenger car.

Apparently the FC is for cars with "Power Pack" engines and Powerglide.

I really think I have a C unless the G doesn't have a horizontal line (my C is curved sufficiently at both ends that all that is missing is the horizontal line to make a G).
Betcha more than one person has "enhanced" that C for their own gain

It's a pass. car 283/220 Powerglide engine - the only usage of those 539 heads on a '57 Corvette was on the 283/283 fuelie (all the other '57 Corvette applications used 997 heads, which go for about $3K/pr. in today's market).
