'63 wiper problem
I finally found the source of the scratched area on my lower, driver's side windshield molding that reappeared after I buffed it out
Ran the wipers and the bottom of the metal part of the DS arm scrapes across that molding no matter where I position the arm on its knurled shaft.
Something is screwy...the metal windshield wiper blade holder on each side measures just a smidge over 15"....is that correct ? And (these may be repros) is there anything strange about them that would cause this ??

If you went to HIH NCRS ask someone their.
There has to be a guru.
I am away from home but will look when I get home. This may be very normal, fit and finish was never a priority in 1963. Not even sure QC existed back then.
Mine are original so I cam measure for you tonight once back home.
Come to think of it. I've never ran them other than just checking function. These cars can't get wet so it's a useless option in my opinion.

You have the wiper arms installed backwards - the angle adjusting screws should face UP, not down.

Rich - I have no doubt they are repros

P&A book says original blade insert length is 14 7/8" for Trico and 15 5/32" for Anco.

Frank, your refills are totally incorrect, and the incorrect length is probably contributing to your problem.
The "fine tuning" screw should come in from the top. Yours looks OK to me, as does the orientation of the angle of the end of the wiper arm.

When you say "refill" do you mean the rubber insert or the rubber insert AND the metal head that holds it?

The metal shouldn't extend that far. Could be that the length is OK, but the "offset" from the centerline might be off, making come down too far, and ??? maybe not "up" far enough on the windshield.
I don't have reference material in front of me, but others have posted the correct length of the TRICO original items.
AND.... to be really **** the original rubbers had a line of dots, not the straight striped lines you see on many.

Here is a photo of the correct wiper, rotated to the correct position.
If you look, the bottom end of your wiper is an Full Inch Lower than it should be.
Possibly your "arms" are too short???

Supposedly "correct" repro pairs are like $189.

I will try to describe this as best as I can.
I pulled the wiper off the arm.
The overall length of the arm assembly (from the end that inserts into the wiper, to the round end that goes over the spline) is 15-1/16"
Hope that helps.
