JMG2,
Did some digging and here's one of the rear on mine. It's a Hartz Stayfast top. Much more durable and, frankly, classier looking, then the vinyl version. Been on the car 3 years now.
See if I can find some closeups of the side view of the top.

Here in hot humid mildew and moldy Florida I have switched to the vinyl black top on my 63 conv, and another guy with a 68 GTO did the same. Unless you have an extremely weather proof garage environment, the South makes cloth tops tougher to keep clean and last. Of course the cloth tops look classier IMO, but not worth the hassle. JMO that's all.

JMG2,
I went through an installer. The top was +$400 + the actual install which was another $400. Where it got real expensive was replacing the header bar on the convertible frame. When you tear things down, you're dealing with age. When all the dust settled, stripping and painting frame, AND new weatherstripping all around, I was right around $1,900. If you're adept at doing this yourself, good for you. You will save a lot of money, just be open to reconditioning and possibly replacing parts as you go.
Oh, that top actually looks better today than when it was installed. Car soap and a micro fiber towel are your friend on these tops.
Good luck with your decision.
Regards,
Jim
