Muscle Car And Corvette National Pictures
Here are just a few pictures from the MCACN show this weekend in Chicago. There was a good turn out, especially on Saturday. All the cars were outstanding with a wide range to choose from. Some of the Corvettes...
I was told this was an original '54...
...including the top.
This was the last Baldwin Motion Corvette made....
In the "BARN FIND" section...
...was an old school gasser.
There wasn't any information on this '67 but it was definitely a period piece.
Here's an original, one owner '67 Z/28...
Still had it's original cowl induction sitting on top of the 302.
This '69 Rambler Scrambler had led an especially hard life at the track it would seem...
It was missing the carburetor but did a have a very neat "old school" fuel cool can in the front right corner of the engine compartment. Looks like it was made from a cookie jar.
The Mallory and Motorola ignition components might bring back some memories.
I was there with my '66 Chevy II, L79 car at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race display.
I was letting kids sit the driver seat with my helmet on, posing for pictures all weekend long and what a hoot that was. That's the next generation of car enthusiasts right there. We need to encourage them to get away from those pesky computers and video games.

When I am at a cruise night or car show and a child comes up to my car and then the parent pulls them back, I open the door and tell the child to have a seat.
The expression on their faces is priceless. The kids are thrilled and the parents are overjoyed.
I don't want kids to have the impression all car owners are "nuts". I have parents come into my store years later and tell me their kids still talk about the guy who let them sit in his car.

Thomas,
Thank you for posting these pics. That is one strong turnout of a lot of Vettes! Kudoos to you on "opening the door" to the next generation by letting them sit in your car!
Again, great pics!

Great shots. thanks for posting them. I took my Maroon coupe there 2 years ago to get our Triple Diamond. WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW. Unreal. Bob and his wife really do a bang up job on that show. I LOVE those blue streaks on the silver coupe....LOVE EM...>ARA

Ara, it was a really nice show as always and Bob and Vicki do an amazing job. It seemed that there were fewer Triple Diamond cars than in years past. I hope that the numbers rebound for next years show.

Wow that White Z-28 if it had a black vinyl top
was just like mine (the car, not condition)! I would love a do over on that one! I'll trade my 1968 T-Top Corvette and extras for that car! Just call me!

One of the more unusual things I saw was this Shelby G.T.350 with a blue vinyl roof of all things.
I'm sorry I can't provide any background information on the roof, but I'd bet it would be interesting.
A few very nice cars has Coker Orange Line tires...
...here's another one.
Here are some proper Gold Lines.
Wanna bet they're Diamond Back tires? They make proper Gold Lines.
Interesting to see a big block car with hub caps and no side pipes.
This '67 big block car had the original window sticker taped to the window...
...if you have a good monitor perhaps you can read it. It sticker for $6,327.50
Another unusual car, a '67 big block convertible with a vinyl covered, removable hard top.
He paid an extra $52.70 for that vinyl covering.
I spent quite a bit of time looking at the BARN FIND cars.
That Camero had lots of original documentation on display.
It was painful to see how neglected it had become...
...since our family use to own a '67 SS/RS 350/295, 4 speed car. Ours didn't have A/C or what looks like an alarm siren on the drivers side fender though.
Also in the BARN FIND section this was a very cool "old school" drag racing set up.
I haven't seen anything like this in decades.
This was a forgotten '65 GTO tri-power car.
I bet that will buff right out. Written in the dust on the rear window of it was...
...this note. Very impressive if true.
There were 2 BARN FIND Shelby's.
This one belonged to Tom Cotter, the author of the "Hemi In A Barn" series.
Just a wild guess he found this in a barn. He was there signing autographs for his latest book.
The other lost Shelby was this one.
No information on it while I was there.
Another neglected and long lost Chevy Impala.
It had an SS 427 badge on the trunk lid.
That car was just massive but seemed to be all there and very solid.
That's fairly rare roof line I'd say. I would expect we'll see it restored one of these days. Hope they run it at the Pure Stock Races when it''s done, it would be a natural.
Again I apologize for the poor quality photographs. They were taken with a proper camera and not a cell phone but I'm hardly a skilled photographer...... and it shows!

I think the picture quality is fine
I shoot alot at shows and have the same thing happen. on the fly without a pro level setup and shoot, these are great! I think we all get caught up on what digital can produce, but in the old days of film-- these would be very good pictures. I am happy to see what all was there!

These pictures are great regardless. Thanks for posting them. As already said we're not going to see these anywhere else.

Drifting
I didn't take many pictures because I was working most of the time but I was lured to this one. Unfortunately it was early Sun am and the owner hadn't opened it up yet.
Verne
I do think the type of lighting in there disturbed the camera's brain.

What a great event. Bob and Vicki do an awesome job and to see that many quality cars in one place is overload.
The PSMCDR display was awesome. The amazement on people's faces when they realize these are not resorted 'old' racecars, but run as shown never gets old.
I was quite surprised and honored to be asked to represent the racers of the Pure Stock Drags by having my car displayed in the lobby of this great event. All Bob Ashton asked was that I bring a timeslip and a pic of a burnout.
I got a chance to meet Supreme Deluxe (Nick) and he may join use next year with his Corvette, I hope he does..
How geeky is it that my son and I hung around to listen to the 1966 Penske L88 race car fire up, and how much worse is it that we were giddy pushing the car from one end of the hall to the other because it would not start ?
We have been invited back again next year, and I look forward to attending without a car on the premises............
If you have never been, please attend this event.
