Macon Georgia Corvette Story (LONG)
I got a call today from someone, who got a call from a relative in GA, asking to please remove my story from here.
I will do this as requested. She was very polite in her request, but because they have been getting inundated with phone calls, it's become a real burden. I called and left a message for them, apologizing for the inconvenience this may have caused and that I will be removing the information.
Apologies to the family, and to the forum, but I had to remove this story as a courtesy to those involved.
However, I've been told that the Dad is doing better and is back working in the shop !!! This, in itself is a good thing and I'm very happy for everyone.
For those who have mentioned the names involved please delete any specifics regarding your information.
Thanks.
Rich

Rich,
I knew Gene Tucker 40 years ago. Smart man. He had to foresight back then to acquire some of the finest examples of early Corvettes I've ever seen. I lost touch with him after I moved to the left coast and I'm sorry to learn of his ill health.
Thanks for posting.

I lived in Macon back in the early 80's. Spent some time out at Gene's place. He had some amazing cars and parts back then and was a super nice guy. I remember the day he brought in the blue 64 Bill Mitchell coupe design car and was showing it to me. I had no idea what it was, just looked like a mild custom. Gene knew the significance of that car and what a unique car it was.

What a story. Makes me appreciate what little parts and one car I have. Dennis

There are collections like this all over.
Most people had a passion for cars, never having understanding of what the future truly held. Value-wise speaking
Super Cool story!

Really, "like this"?
This concentration of special early cars, and unique early parts?
I agree there are many people all around the country that have amassed troves of parts. But I think that the parts would be mostly routine stuff.
To have acquired this much unobtainium and not sold it away long ago has to be pretty unusual.

Most would be astonished if they saw the buildings on our farm which stretches 100's of acres.
Guess what? Corvettes are not the only sought after automobiles.
We have A models to Grand Nationals. And everything in between.

Rich,
I bought my 67 Goodwood green roadster from Gene in 2002. It was his personal car that they drove to their cottage on St. Simon Island. I drove to their place in Macon to inspect and drive the car. Gene and wife were most gracious while there, took me to lunch and then we went behind their home where Robbie was building his new house to check on the concrete work.
I was put in touch with Gene thru a good friend who had Gene restore (a better word would be rebuild) one of the prototype original Corvette Z06 that GM crushed and put in a field in England. That white Z06 looked brand new after Gene finished restoring/rebuilding it.
Sorry to hear of Gene's health and hope things work out for him.

The 55 green car was always his favorite. He was a force in his prime.

This car was a impulse buy in September. My mom had to have it, bad idea the old man bought the car without checking it good.
Full of rust in the rear pans and decking area, the heater channels were completely rotted away. The wood top surround was rotted away. That new top and structure is $1700
All has been replaced with our on fabbed metal panels as you can't buy anything for these cars resonably anymore.
All reality is it will be a 7-10k car were completed, with 12k invested. It will be painted on Monday were hoping!

37 chevy pickup restored in 2001, never been on the road. 1934 ford pickup, 1965 mustang conv, 1935 chevy master town sedan.
Will get other building pictures, weve been working hard on this bug to get it done before Christmas.
Notice the wallhangers.......old man said if the pickers ever show up here, he would tell them to get the *8** of the property!
