Always loved cars especially Corvettes, early 70's, 21 years old and found one locally that I could afford, what a rush. Of course I let everyone know and the next time I talked to my Mom she said that her friends told her the car was dangerous. I thought because it was fiberglass and fast but she went on to explain that Ralph Nader wrote a book about how unsafe they were. She had been telling everyone I had a Corvair. Gotta love Moms.

It was Mother's day 2000. I had put a deposit on the car Friday in Denver, so my wife, son and I drove from Colorado Springs to Denver to pay the balance and drive it home. My wife and I drove the '66 and my son followed in my Jeep with the original engine block and hardtop in the back. On the drive home on I-25, we came across a car pulled off with the hood up and the engine on fire. There was a guy already hitting the fire with an extinguisher so we pulled over and I grabbed the extinguisher the previous owner had kept in the '66 and was able to help put out the fire.

It was the winter of 1989, March and pouring rain and light snow. The car carrier pulled-up to my house (open car hauler tractor trailer) my cay was over the cab of the truck. The battery was dead and I was in no mood to grab my camera. The driver jumped the battery but had to move all the other cars off the hauler before mine was unloaded.
The picture is the day I brought the car to the shippers yard in San Diego Ca. a month before. I had it shipped to my house in NJ (well my moms house-I was young and spent all my money on the car so I lived at home).
Still have the car.

I remember purchasing my car from a Guy in Long Island two years ago. We live in Southern NH. My Son was 10 and loved cars so I told my Wife it was time to make a memory. My Son and I woke up early that Saturday morning and drove a rental car to LI. About a 5 hr drive. We got to where the car was, put the temp plates on it and set off back for home in our new 65 365hp Roadster. By the time we made it to my Sisters home in CT it was snowing like crazy. Stayed over that night and made it home the next day in one piece. We both talk about our adventure and I look forward to recalling that day as we both get older.
Here is my 65' as it was and then back to its original color and Top Flight Status.

It was a cold but dry February day in Edmond Oklahoma 2013. Hard to believe nearly two years of ownership have passed.
I had never even sat in a C2 save the quick ride a friend gave in just a week before.
I captured the moments on film (battery dead and had to jump it) and then drove the car up the street to the house, only to run out of gas and actually coast into the garage.

Here is when I traded 67 up towards Z06 .
Had the Z06 for 1 year worked a deal for the SWC I have now. It was hard getting rid of the old one .That wont happen again.

Got mine this year. Hauled it from South Point OH to Knoxville TN on UHaul trailer. I was a nervous wreck. At least it was a beautiful day until I got within 10 minutes of my house and then it rained like a sob. But it survived.

Once again here is the arrival of our 58 corvette back in Sept 2013. It crossed Canada from British Columbia and has a new home in Ontario Canada.
After some freshening up and some winter projects, here is the car a year later. Needless to say my wife loves those summer drives and is looking forward to the coming summer. Some day, we hope to be enjoying a few winter rides, in Florida!!!!!!

This was a great thread idea... and I have really enjoyed watching/reading, and in a small way being part of your special days. While its a common experience, how we all get there is unique, and its been a treat to see it.
For those of you still in the scheming and dreaming stages, your day will come... and we can't wait to welcome you into the brotherhood.
