Rare corvette parts that you regret getting rid of.
Thought this would be a good thread talking about the little screwdriver that came with the original KO wheels.
When I sold my first SWC Thinking I was washing my hands of all ties with it .I let go of
New old stock clock in box. was installed in car
original handle and jack
original floor mats.
original brake master cylinder
original owners manual
original spare wheel and tire
On my second SWC I do have all this stuff it wasn't easy to get. I learned on that one.

Had a friend who worked at GM, and who owned a '67 L89 for a while. Since I had a '67 427/400, he gave me a couple spare carbs, linkage parts and a ton of other stuff I have forgotten. I sold it, and a big stack of Corvette News magazines, for next to nothing after I had sold MY 67.

Figured I would not be interested in pursuing flight Judging with the ZR-1 I had owned for at the time for over 15 years as it was modified early in it's life.
Sold the original front tires with 4000 miles on them,
then the original back tires, same mileage.
Then sold a new NOS pair of rears with correct-enough date codes, that I held onto for years.
Less than a year later......................
I decided to pursue NCRS.
Spent a fortune re-acquiring almost correct tires.
Remember, these are directional and different sized front and rear, so four unique tires.
What a mistake that was!
So while I might not buy the elusive $1,000.00 screwdriver that prompted this thread, if I had one,
I WOULD NEVER SELL IT!

I've had nothing too rare, but I had a 68 with a nice unbroken center gauge housing...and a new one in the box. Few other spare hard to find 68 only pieces.
Those 68 gauge bezels in good condition are approaching unobtanium status.

I have been thinking about selling some fairly hard to find original parts from my '61 that I've had for a long time. I guess this thread is the reason it's been hard to pull the trigger.

How about the original parts I regret keeping? I have a stockpile of rusty broken crap that I'm too paranoid to trash!

I had an NOS set of aluminum heads for 1960 fuel injected cars. They were complete and VERY NICE, and they pressure checked good. When we built our house 30 years ago, it was on a 3 acre lot. Mowing 3 acres with a push mower is NOT fun . Sadly, the heads were sold to fund a Sears riding mower. Just call me crazy. This is just one of too many rare parts I've sold over the years.

Have a pile of 62 and 67 parts I know I will never have a use for including new old stock I never got around to putting on. Who needs two split windows and a 66 big block when you never drive them in the first place.
It's a disease I caught early on and sold several cars to increase the college fund account. Now I hear many never pay back the loans and I like a dummy sold the remains of my hobby to afford the expenses. Seeing them parked in the building with their younger relatives ( yes too many performance cars ) is enough to pay for their keep. Just added a 63 Bel Air post car to the herd, for which reason I am not sure. The rust free Texas body called and I could not say no. The W motor sold for more than the rest of the car so that is a search for a different day.

No regrets selling off rare or hard to find parts.
I can't take them with me, and I have reached a point where I am done hoarding parts and crawling around old cars.
I realized as I was advertising some of these parts that they are still in the box that they were in when they were shipped to me 20 years ago.
Lots of parts just seem to move from one person's shelf to another.
I regret NOT selling some of these parts sooner. Repo parts have come along and dropped the market for some of these original parts.
I should have sold them when repos were not available.

Parts I Gave Away
Back in 1983 I moved my shop from quite a large building with lots of storage space to a small building with virtually no storage space. I had 5 complete Muncie 4 speeds, 5 or 6 cases, center bearing support plates, and tail housings, and at least 8 to 10 mainshafts and 5 or 6 brand new OEM GM complete gear sets, including cluster gears. I had no place in the new shop to store them, so I gave them to a local transmission shop that did my automatic transmission work. What a mistake that was !!! Today, that stuff would be worth thousands !!!
