I'm thinking about getting a ATT CE corvette 1953 2003, have tried to contact the factory with no luck which bothers me. Wondered if anyone owns one or knows anything about them. Need help, thanks

A few years back a friend who owns a repair facility that specializes in classic car restorations was considering purchasing one of the retro cars. I can't remember which model it was now, and it may well have been the one you are looking at. In any case it had been hit and would need a few body panels to repair, but otherwise looked like a simple repair job. I contacted the manufacturer of the car at the time for him and very quickly they said that they absolutely would not sell any of their panels to us. They would be happy to repair the car if we shipped it to them, but they would not sell repair panels. Needless to say it was no longer a project he wanted to be involved in.

Something to consider when you get involved in one of these very limited production cars.

Good luck... GUSTO

There have been several sell over the past couple years. Most around the $60k mark. Cheaper than having it built.

To me that was the car that GM should have built for the 50th Commemorative Car and they would have sold a boat load of them or they could have only built 300 of them and who ever had a real original 53 Corvette would have had first chance to buy one. I heard that GM was approached by this company about selling them the style and GM told them NO because there design people did not think of it. I heard you send them your car and they put on the 53 body and keep all the parts they took off your car as part of the deal. Who knows, but I do like it.

Default CE corvette

Thanks guys, I'm really on the fence about this car. Like the style but understand it is not a true corvette.

It's a true Corvette from Bowling Green. It's just been modified.

Those proportions are terrible. Look how much front overhang it has!

I like it, I just don't like it $60K enough.

And the other part is the repair cost if the car is damaged. Since the shop that builds them won't sell parts to make repairs, it would cost a fortune to repair if it gets banged up.

WELL. with all the negatives you guys have expressed (which this site is FAMOUS for), I like it! I don't care much for the hi-tech hype on the late model Vettes, but I DO LIKE this. In the past few years, I've run across a couple of them, and I commend the people who designed it.

Those are built (by ATT) about ten miles from me - the deal used to be that you'd drop off your convertible and a check for $30K, and come back in three weeks to take it home.

ATT is a telephone company! The 53CE was built by Advanced Automotive Technology, or AAT. My 2004 is #132 and its one of the greatest cars I've ever had. Don't buy this car of you don't like to talk to people. They made around 200 of them. I'm pretty sure you can still call ATT. They are located near Detroit. I think you can still have one built, tho I have not personally talked to them. This is absolutely a "real" Corvette. Some Vette purists don't like my car but that's their problem. Back in the early 2000s they took your "donar" car and closer to $35,000. Don't know about now. They really seem to be holding their value which is great.

My husband and I also have two 54s and a 66, but my CE is the "driver" and it's lots of fun to drive and look at, and talk to people about.
