My '67 Chevelle Muncie failed two days into my eBay ad to sell the car 18 months ago.

I forked out $800 to get it fixed in a hurry by a local Muncie expert. It shifted so damn nice afterwards I nearly didn't sell the car. That was the price to R&R the tranny, parts and labor.

Normally, I would have shopped the price some more but I was in a bind with several bids over my eBay reserve price so I knew the car was gone soon...

Bair's charges $650 to rebuild a rear. Don't know how many parts this includes, probably just the norm or typical wear parts. Gear changes, etc. would be extra.

In your area, I would call Gary Ramadi to do the rear. He is close to you and VERY GOOD.

Not certain about who to go for the Muncie. Maybe D&L Transmissions. I think Jofa and Frankie gave you the cost.

It’s not what you asked, but if you have the time and basic mechanical skills, rebuilding a Muncie is not that difficult and can be pretty satisfying once you finish. I bought an overhaul kit from D & L Transmission and followed the Muncie rebuilding DVD from 5speeds.com. I needed an additional reverse and idler gear but still came in under $350 for all of the parts.

I bought the rebuild kit and had it done for 400 bucks plus the cost of the kit..
