Any c2 owners eliminate vent window and go one piece glass?
I know I've seen a couple in the past and believe there must be some reworking of the hinge area for glass to fit. Anyone here do it or know of any?

GM made 1-2 show cars without vents. I've never seen a private owner pull this off.
I've read it's a tough job.

IMO, vent windows is part of the charm of these cars.
Like cowl vents on a C1, i wouldn't even consider a c1 that had the cowl vent glassed over.

I've looked into buying curved glass for this, but the cost is very high. You'll have to buy a fixture for thousands $$ to make your first piece.
You can buy a flat piece from any glass store for ~$75, but then you have to design the mechanism and tracks.
This build is doing it:

These guys make a door setup to eliminate the vent window. You might be able to buy some parts from them to retrofit, but when I talking to them they said it was far easier to use their door then try to retrofit using original door.

I can't imagine what the costs would be for a one-off custom piece of glass, particularly safety-compliant glass.
Make that two of them.

GM Styling did a '64 coupe for Bill Mitchell with no vent windows, sequential safety lights in the doors, etc., and a friend of mine (Werner Meier) restored it about eight years ago. You wouldn't believe how much that compound-curved custom piece of glass cost, not to mention the complex track system to raise and lower it. This is NOT a DIY job.

A friend of mine (Gomer) and Cranky had that car for awhile (Could have really been Buxbaum's). He probably bought it for less than the glass cost.

Fixed plexi windows would not be super expensive, but better have A/C, and no more drive-throughs for you!
Could lead to some "interesting" traffic-stop "conversations" with LEOs.

I want to get red of the red thing and get a gen1 Camaro convertible. I'm only looking at '67s because that was the only year they came with vent windows. Go sample any late '60s GM coupe with Astro ventilation unless it's been fully and properly restored. See how the door glass flops around and then come back and tell me you want to take the vent windows out of your C2. Chalk up Astro ventilation to one of GM's bonehead ideas.

Fast forward to post Job 1 and 90 days in service. Customer complaints coming in about the window glass blowing outboard of the door channel at speed. Usually above the speed limit but no matter. Perceived as poor quality design and that's just what it was. Not a workmanship issue.
There was a quick, partial fix put in the design about a 3 years into production to lessen the problem but it was never fixed until a new door was designed to hold the door glass in place with the window down.
Why did it take 3 years you might ask? Well, customer complaints and warranty claims were initially assigned to the assembly plant as a quality problem by the Product Planners and Body Engineering. Not product intent or engineering related. Without giving the blow by blow account of what finally happened, a band-aid was applied to the problem by engineering. Of course they had to scratch to find the budget money as warranty costs came out of a different pocket.

Do the Mitchell car's windows raise and lower? With the doors hollowed out for the lights, armrests and such, doesn't look like there's room for the glass to go down. Can't see from the interior picture if that silver console panel behind the shifter is shift pattern or power window switches! (The car DOES have A/C.)

All of which is why (I'm betting) the company in Ken's post above recommends buying their entire door for such a conversion rather than piecing something together trial-and-error with an original door shell

I have one piece side windows on my SWC.

Burning Brakes
let me know where to buy them.
I am struggling putting back the stock vent windows on my 67 vert after new paint and new re-chrome and said every cuss word in the English and Italian dictionary.
Problem 1) new RH alum spacer vent regulator works some of the time not all of time after rebuild (if someone has a pot metal RH I will buy it). The pot metal LH rebuild works fine.
Problem 2) LH vent window installed, door does not shut now. Do I remove latch first then try to shut door. should I blue tape down the new weatherstripping to make it less intrusive?
