Yes, you did come to your senses. I know how good long term ownership is. Keep her rollin'! Dennis

Congratulations! At age 19 I couldn't possibly have afforded one though I tried persuading my Dad into buying one. Can't imagine all the memories you and that car have created together. Thanks for sharing it with us here.

I bought my '66 @ the ripe old age of 23 in early May, 1975. Still have the "finance contract" from Mellon Bank . . . I financed $2500.00 (paid the other $700 in cash) for 30 months with payments of $97.71. I still have lots of old receipts . . . including a tune up for $20 (plus tax), state inspections for $12. She's still going strong with just 68,000 miles on the clock!
Happy Holidays everybody!

Congratulation for your 40 years of ownership. Although not a Corvette but still held in high esteem purchased my 1968 Camaro Z-28 in April 1986. It's two owner Oklahoma car with 24k mi. when purchased and now a whopping 31k miles. Unrestored with original everything, interior, paint and drive train. Oh yes.....runs like a scalded dog.

That is a great period correct photo. Old car old brick pavers old bridge
I think your photo answers the question posted the other day about photographing cars on the lawn. There were a lot of post saying cars should be photographed in there natural setting( on the street) and you nailed it!
Cool pic

Welcome to the 40 year plus Corvette ownership club!
I bought my '67 in September 1971 at the age of 21, for $1800. It has survived a divorce (since I bought it before I was married it wasn't community property ), two job changes and three moves.
Going into my 44th year of ownership now, I intend to own it until the day I die and then leave it to my grandson!

Although I've only owned mine for 28 years, I understand where you're coming from. There have been times when I have had the urge to sell my'62...Then I realize, at least to me, it's more than ownership...it's a love affair.

...66jack congrats on the long term ownership. I've only owned my 65 for 11 years now, however my Dad is in the 37 year club. I think he picked up his 65 in 1977 for $1600.

I've owned the old 62 for 42 years now and have had thoughts of selling but so far I've resisted. I know I'd hate myself.

Congratulations on your 40 years with your 66 Jack I bought my 65 43 years ago at the age of 18. I've also owned my 61 for almost 30 years. It was alot cheaper to buy them back then. I basically grew up with the 65

The 40 year club
Count me in the 40 year club. I purchased my 68 in 1972 at age 19. The car has been through three dogs, countless girlfriends and a wife of 34 years. Hard to believe that Nixon was still in his first administration. Did I win anything? Jerry

Bought my 63 in 1989 I was 29 and it took every dime I had. This is the car 2-days after I bought it in San Diego Ca. in 1989 at the Corvette Diner a few days before shipping it back home in NJ. Still have it. Never put it on the road.
