Obtainable Classic Stingray, Even for Dreamers
Built in 1964 with serial no. 1, this 1965-specification Corvette Stingray could fetch anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000 when it crosses the block at Mecum Auctions next month.

And at the end of the day it's still a 65 Corvette.

I agree 110%. Merely bragging rights for a body with too much money. Just like Pro Team with the " Last 67 ". They promoted the grand plan of ownership and were very successful. If it were not for number crunchers and VIN specialty chasers our five k cars would still be 5k.
Hats off to those special people with their museum of cars under glass. My values are better suited with a quantity of driver status machines.

Somewhere in C4 Gen the last one was going to go for 750k?
Sorry, the first, 45th or last has 0 value to me personally. Neat fact and all but who cares it drives the same?

A neat car with good options, colors, and low miles, and presumably in good shape, but I agree with the comments that the serial number alone does not jack the price into that range. Not rationally, anyway.

Many times with collectibles it's not the item that people are paying for, it's the "story" that will go with the item.

Regardless of perceived value, I find it interesting that some of the firsts/lasts of a model year are still around. The last '62 is out there; haven't heard about the '63s or '64s. First and last '65s exist, as do the last '66 and '67.
