Default Opinions on carpet style: loop, cut pile, essex?

The original carpet in my 66 is getting a little threadbare and worn so I'm thinking of replacing it sometime soon. I'm not set on the car having to be 100% correct, so besides the original 80/20 loop style, I am wondering what people think of other styles of carpet that are available, like cut pile or even thicker Essex?

Personally, I prefer the look of the cut pile and plan on using that instead of the loop. I seem to recall that Willcox Corvette could supply the cut pile but I'm not certain.

Are there kits in alternate materials, or are you talking about starting from material and cutting and edging the pieces yourself?

I was talking about kits. Willcox sells ACC, which can make a kit in just about whatever they have.

I replaced my carpet with ACC 80/20 loop from Wilcox a few years ago. IMO it has not held up well at all. The car is driven daily and gets allot if use. I plan to try cut pile but I'm not sure from where yet.

They sell ACC carpet with good pricing and very good customer service.
You will get a no problem fitting carpet, with multiple choices of style, along with "mass backing" option, which I just did for my 57 chev pickup.

I bought my carpet from stock interiors as well. I went with the Ultra-Plush cut pile with mass backing. (This is for a '65 coupe). I received it last week but won't be installing till April or so.
I can't say anything for fitment of course, but the quality of the carpet itself and the trim stiching looks exceptional.

Only 63/64 has carpet on the door panels. Both OP and Thorson have later cars so no issue. I'm thinking the Ultra Plush with backing for my 65.

Thorson

How much did the ultra plush with massbacking set cost you through stock interiors?

I haven't been able to find the receipt, but I'm pretty sure it was around the $480.00 + shipping range. The shipping charges for up here were ridiculaus, (an extra $97 bucks from FedEx) but I'm getting used to that. Not sure if they offer free shipping in the lower 48.
