Default 66' convertible stored for 30+ years (opinion)

HI Guys,

I was wondering if i could get someone's opinion on this 66 convertible ( link below)

They say apart from the color, everything else is original.

i have been looking for a C2 or a while now but im finding it hard from Australia, getting honest opinions and advice, so i thought joining this forum would be a great thing!

also, what is the best site to look for c2 corvettes ?

Any assistance is appreciated

Welcome to the forum Mate. I would run, not walk away from that car. Other than the paint, all is original, just looking at the car you can tell the suspension on that dune buggy is not original. must have been used for off-roading. The best place to look for (Good) used C-2 Corvettes is right here on this forum. Good luck with your search.

"all is original" I guess this is one of the very rare cars that had the rear fenders enlarged from the factory

Stay away from that car, looks like plenty of problems. You have found the correct place to get a nice Corvette. I just bought a nice 66 last weekend from a forum member. I put a " want to buy" thread here and had several forum members respond. Some did not have their car even advertised but sent me PM's regarding selling their Vette. One member has a beautiful 64 red roadster with knockoffs that is show worthy but not advertised. I bet if you post a want ad he will respond. He is also very reasonable on his price. Good luck and welcome.

That dealer is noted for selling "distressed" cars, i.e., junk, so proceed carefully.

Another site to check is Cars On Line. It has a large number of C2 Corvettes - and other Corvette generations - advertised for sale. Here's a link to the C2 site
http://www.cars-on-line.com/corvette_2.html

If you're considering an import, the Canadian dollar is pretty depressed so the Canadian market could be a consideration. Here's the Canadian Auto Trader site.

Having looked at several cars from this dealer, I AGREE 100% with Easy Rhino's summation of Beverly Hills Car Club which in fact is in a questionable section of East Los Angeles ...Mark

Hey ,

Ive seen a car i like in canada that is in pieces that i want to have assembled in the US then sent to Aus.

Are the costs of importing cars into the us from canada expensive? Or am i just better of sending it straight here to Aus?

Canadian US sales are easy and not expensive for classic cars. Why not just import the car direct to Australia?

Because it will probably cost me double the price to assemble it here . We get ripped off bad.

There are plenty of good restoration places in the us right?
Because i probably have 5 places in all of aus i can go to for a c2

Yes there are many good restoration shops in the US. However I wouldn't buy a car in pieces and turn it over to someone when I lived as far away from the project as you do. In any restoration, situations develop that you hadn't planned on. It can be done but unless the car you are looking at is really something special, I would buy a nice complete car and just import it direct to Australia.

From Personal Experience!!!...unless you can do the reassembly/restoration yourself....RUN Forrest !!!...RUN!!!...from a disassembled car, ESPECIALLY "1" thousands of miles AWAY from you!!!, as every missing part is $$$$ & shop cost to restore at $100.00 an hour will QUICKLY find you upside down!!!...which you already are, living in Australia ...Mark
