63 SWC Outer Window Wipe - staples
Does anyone actually make a wipe, not the SS, that attaches with staples not rivets? The one I purchased from Corvette rubber attaches with rivets.
Thanks

I made my own....from some garage door weatherstripping...
The package says Dark Brown but trust me....it is so dark its indistinguishable from black...as you can see in the next to last picture...

Make your own staples using regular wire and drill holes to attach the rubber you have to the stainless. Then
Put phillips scews into the holes of the rubber and attach it to your door.
You might end up with an extra phillips scre but no one is going to count them. It will look like original.
And to answer your question, NO, they dont make a rubber that fits like original....Im not sure why they even go through the trouble if they cant make it right, but I guess since everybody buys it anyway, why should they....

If you can get some stainless wire then you'll avoid staples that turn into rust over time.
Stainless steel paper clips cut to length and bent work quite well.
The staples attach the rubber to the SS garnishes; the Philips head screws attach the SS garnish to the door. I made holes for those screws to sit down below the level of the rubber as shown above.
I found if I didn't do that then the screw heads would interfere with the bottom frame of the glass when winding the window up.

Believe it or not there is a clip that's spot welded to the stainless, you can see the remains of the spot welds. That assembly is attached (slid up) into the door recesses, you can see these also if you look at the door frame. Screws are then attached to hold the complete assembly to the door.
Those clips are long gone on my car, they must have been plain metal. Someone here may have a picture.

Most don't even have those outer garnishes anymore and there are no repros...folks have to use '64 parts and force them to fit. Pretty crummy deal as the later ones aren't the best fit...
I think my Bubba-ized versions above don't look all that far afield from the real deal (best I could do anyway)!

OR you could just order the correct ones from Paragon

Yeah - well I tried those....correct is a relative term. They are quite thick and interfere with rolling the window all the way up on a '63 coupe....which is why I went elsewhere. Here is the side on view of the piece on Paragon's web site vs the piece I made up...
Every car is different; maybe the OP will have better luck with the repros.

OK gothcha, I installed the reproduction ones (made by CRC) same sold by all the vendors (I believe) in my 64 Coupe a while back when I rebuilt the doors and they work just fine. Maybe there is a slight difference on the 63's (early doors) but the ones I used had no holes for rivets or staples, so I made my own and was able to use the original style staples. They look and function as the originals did. When compared to the originals, I thought they were identical dimensionally as well.
