Default C2 Restoration Shop

I've looked for a while and can't find a trustworthy shop to have my 64 and 63 restored. I'm near Richmond, Va. Any recommendations? Must have references before I commit. We're thinking a body off job for both..

Default 63-64

Carlos Vivas, Nipomo CA
Jeff Reade, Culver City CA

Not the closest to you, but some of the best work in the world by both.

Master Works Automotive in Madison Heights, Michigan, owned by Werner Meier (inducted last year into the Corvette Hall Of Fame); they were just selected by the Corvette Museum to restore the black '62 that fell into the sinkhole, along with their other Corvette business.

If you're looking for something in VA I would recommend John at JBL at Dulles also. You could swing by and see some of his work if he's working on anything now

Why not contact Corvette Club of America. They are the oldest club in the country and they are in that region. I'm sure they can help you.

I appreciate all the responses.
JohnZ, I'm sure your recommendation is top notch, but that's out of my reach as the cars are now in the Southeast in storage.
Redvetracer, Boyan, same comment regarding distance.
bluestreak, something about fantomworks doesn't seem what I'm looking for. May be a wrong judgement on my part, but they seem more into all makes and customs. Probably smart from a business point of view, but...
Bobby6t5, aafacda, IMSA GTP, I'll definitely check out JBL. I'd actually only been looking south and missed them. Do you have personal experience with a complete resto, or ????
NOWHERE MAN, I'll also check out Tony's as Gaithersburg would be just down the road. Again, do you have personal experience with a complete resto?
Thanks to others who responded with PM's. Great group here.

I have seen and NCRS judged some of Tony's cars. Been to his shop a few times. (If you look at the pictures on his website under the NCRS part you can see me in the one picture). His work is second to none. I could not begin to afford a resto done by him. But if you can then have at it

I had John do a engine swap and a complete paint for me on a '67 convertible. Not only can he do body and paint, he is an excellent mechanic. He is one of the nicest guys you would ever do business with. He tells you what you need to hear and what its going to cost to fix it. After I got the car home the clutch fork jumped off the ball (spring clip broke). He drove to my home, 167 miles one way on a Saturday and fixed it, no charge . I found his prices fair and his estimate was spot on. Tell him the boys on the forum sent ya. Good Luck: thumbs:

As a long time member of the Corvette Club of America and a visitor to Tony's shop many times, I can say he has done many NCRS and Bloomington high point cars. Dennis

That might be a hurdle too high. Doesn't make much sense to spend too much on a resto and have more in it than it'll ever be worth. But we'll check it out.

Wait a second, Im confused. You want to pay a professional shop to restore 2 iconic American cars of yours to excellent standards and you dont want to be upside down in investment????

Im gonna have to rethink this Corvette thing.....

Probably costs about the same to restore a ZO6 as a 250 Powerglide, so since I'm a 300 HP 4 speed, there is a limit.

Then you might want to rethink about doing a resto.
