Default fresh air cable routing

When I bought my '66 several years ago, the fresh air ventilation cables had been removed. I have a new set I'm going to install, but even after looking at the assembly manual, I can't really tell how the cables come around the vents and then make a 180 degree turn to go through the vents and connect to the flapper valve assy. Could someone please post several photos of their fresh air vents so I can figure this out! Thanks in advance! HD

If you have the 'vents' off of the kick panel, thread the cable through the 'small hole' on vent...hook up cable end to flapper put on 'spring washer' and then put on vent...then attach clamp to 'vent/cable'....

Pass side lays in/on the back side of frame channel where vin is attached..

Do you have the special clamp for the drivers side?

Not sure if this is what you need and I'm a lousy photographer but hope this helps. Gary

I followed 66Jack's advice and installed new vent covers and cables, not easy for a 66 year old "youngster". I didn't know my body could still bend and twist that much! I got under the instrument panel and I thought my wife was going to have to call the Paramedics to get me out!

On drivers side you'll need this clip/retainer...

One side hooks onto hood release the other goes on vent cable and you 'twist lock it' on to hold...

or you can put on some zip ties...

I'll go the strap-tie route after I see my chiropractor!

I hope you made sure the seals were good around the vent flapper doors before closing them up. It'd be a shame to be able to close them tightly with the handles now only to find they leak air. Not a fun job though and it may not be worth it to you to take it on...

I would also recommend reaching in and pulling out all the leaves and crap that falls in at windshield cowl, and ends up plugging the drainage holes located below the vent itself.
