Default 64 with upgrades

Picked up this 64 convertible project last month. Planned upgrades are a LS1 with a T56 six speed, all new gauges, Steeroids, Ididit tilt column, Vintage Air and upgraded suspension. New seats and all new interior. the paint is a two footer but very presentable and will be ok for a few years. The car was disassembled when I bought it. Many boxes came with it thankfully they labeled all the parts and bolts.

when I bought it

the new powertrain

yes they can and still use your original clutch linkage, and this came without a motor witch is how I really liked it so my engine/trans options were wide open. it was originally a powerglide car.

Sounds like the "perfect" candidate for a restomod midyear Corvette.

Default big hole and engine bay done

updates for today. the engine bay is all cleaned and painted ready for the LS1

making room for the T56 six speed, A T56 will not fit without raising the trans tunnel, I have read about a half inch. I did it this way so I could keep the mounts for the trim all intact and level.

Also got the gauges installed in the bezel

Yes - mine too is victory red with the black stinger and pro car seats. As for the seat belt guides, we fabricated them out of flat sheet metal to place them in the head rest insert holes.

Going to be a nice ride when you get it all together. Keep the pics coming. I love to see a project getting completed like this.

It probably would but I had to move the engine forward more so the shifter and trans were in the correct location, that T56 is huge. I am going to try the factory corvette setup and hope the power steering will clear if not I will clearance the frame a little like the recess for the crank pulley and use the Camaro setup.

I keep trying to educate myself for this swap down the road - are you having the water pump connections done or can you buy a housing reconfigured? I really like your work!

Fwiw I would be tempted to paint the engine covers in cast aluminum! They are very cool either way you go.

gator79, May I ask where you purchased those covers? Your work looks great.
